En youtuber man bør kende Vol 8. - Hadfero [english]

One youtuber you should know about Vol 8. - Hadfero
Hadfero is none other than Hadrien Feraud who would fit i Vol 6 easily, but deserves having Vol 8 because he really isn’t all that well known in the non-bassist community. But he does play for John McLaughlin at the moment which by itself is quite an achievement since it certainly takes a bit of skill to be able to keep up on Johns songs. Therefore John McLaughlin have collaborated with such high-profile bassists as Jonas Hellborg Kai Eckhardt, Dominique Di Piazza, Matt Garrison, Stanley Clarke - not to mention Jaco Pastorius. In other words a small “who’s who” of Fusion-bass. McLaughlins (along with Joe Zawinuls) bands are more or less the most attractive stepstone for an up-and-coming jazz/fusion bassist. John McLaughlin calls Hadrien Feraud “the new Jaco” which is a label not just anyone is can carry, but Hadrien can. By comparison, it is a bit like calling Lionel Messi “the new Maradona”. The potential is definitely there.
Hadrien Feraud was born in 1984 in Paris and is self-taught aside from one single lesson he took from a certain Mr. Di Piazza when he was 15 or 16. He is (like any other virtuous bassist) heavily influenced by Jaco Pastorius and you can tell, but my mind also makes the connection to Matt Garrison (for somewhat unknown reasons, but one is the 4 finger technique and the fact that both Hadrien and Matt have a ramp installed on their instrument), but in time he will probably just be Hadrien.
Well enough with the hype. Unfortunately there aren’t really any great clips with Hadrien and the ones from his channel are not perfect enough for this kind of showcase-blogpost. So for once, I choose videoes that are not from the particular youtuber you should know about to even remotely do his talent justice. (Still though… the vids could be better, but they will improve in time)
Here he is doodling around on Euro Bass Day 2007
